The Extending Service Delivery Project has developed various Healthy Timing and Spacing of Pregnancy (HTSP) tools—counseling, advocacy and educational materials, for health providers to use in their role to help women and families make informed decisions that support achievement of their RH/FP goals. ESD has translated the WHO technical guidance into operational messages, which are user-friendly and field friendly, for use by service providers in their interaction with clients.
New! HTSP Counseling Pathways: A counseling tool for health care providers that can be used to identify a woman who may be at risk of a closely spaced pregnancy or pregnancy at too early an age. The tool provides opportunities to discuss the HTSP messages and benefits; helps providers to reinforce appropriate information and counseling on informed choice and/or referral fo family planning and reproductive health services; and can be used by health care providers in PHC, ANC, MCH, PNC, PAC, HIV-related, and youth-related clinics, as well as in community outreach.

HTSP/FP Brochure in Arabic: Developed by local partner the Basic Health Services (BHS) Project, in collaboration with the Yemeni government, the brochure contains information about HTSP messages, and family planning methods, including: breastfeeding and LAM, low dose oral pills for breastfeeding mothers, injectables, implants, combined oral contraceptives, IUDs, condoms and sterilization.
Postpartum Family Planning for Healthy Pregnancy Outcomes Trainers’ Manual Provides information and guidance on how to conduct a two-day training for health trainers, nurses, health supervisors, and community health workers who already have basic understanding and experience with RH/FP, to provide postpartum family planning counseling and services. The manual is designed to provide the necessary technical information to strengthen their knowledge and skills around postpartum family planning and healthy timing and spacing of pregnancy (HTSP), within the context of FP counseling and service provision.
